هل ذهبت مرة لعطار وأعجبت بعطر، ثم بعد خروجك تغيرت رائحته؟

إن لرائحة العطر مراحل زمنية، تتغير تدريجياً وبتناغم، فهناك نوتات عطرية تشرق في البداية ومع الوقت تظهر نوتات أخرى! هناك ما يعرف بالهرم العطري، وهو مفهوم أساسي مقسم إلى قمة العطر (وهي أول ربع ساعة)، وقلب العطر (وهي لأربع ساعات) وبعد ذلك قاعدة العطر وهي النوتة التي تميز العطر لباقي اليوم.

يعود اختلاف رائحة العطر عبر الزمن إلى أن لكل مادة عطرية خواص تطاير متباينة، فبعض المكونات تتطاير بسرعة وبعضها الآخر ببطء مما يغير في تركيب ورائحة العطر. مكونات القمة مواد سريعة التطاير تسيطر على مقدمة العطر لخفة جزيئاتها، أما مكونات قلب العطر فهي أقل تطايرا، لكن ليست كمواد القاعدة التي تبقى لنهاية اليوم لثقل جزيئاتها.

هناك علاقة عكسية بين ثبات المواد العطرية وبين فوحانها! فإما أن تكون المادة العطرية ذات ثباتية عالية وفوحان قليل أو العكس. العطر المصمم جيدا ما هو إلا مزج من مكونات ذات ثبات وفوحان مختلفين لترسم قصة عطرية متكاملة. تشكل فواكه الحمضيات أشهر مكونات القمة، وتشكل الورود والأزهار والتوابل أشهر مكونات القلب، أما الأخشاب والمواد المستخلصة حيوانيا كالعنبر والمسك فتشكل زيوت القاعدة.
